The community you’ll be caring for: AdventHealth Tampa

AdventHealth Tampa is a faith-based, not-for-profit 626-bed tertiary-level acute care hospital located in the uptown district of Tampa, Florida. It specializes in advanced cardiovascular medicine, neuroscience and neurology, digestive health, orthopedics, women’s services, pediatrics, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics, wound healing, sleep medicine, and general surgery including minimally invasive and robot-assisted procedures. The hospital hosts GME programs in general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, and transitional year. It is also home to the AdventHealth Pepin Heart Institute, a leader in cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment, and the Kiran C. Patel Research Institute, which leads in clinical and academic research in neuroscience, cardiovascular medicine, and more.

The role you’ll contribute:

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer uses ultrasound to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data to aid physicians in diagnosing disease or injury, while maintaining the highest standard of patient care.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

• Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
• Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures based on anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information, and images.
• Uses independent judgment during sonographic exams to differentiate between normal and pathological findings.
• Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.

Qualifications

The expertise and experience you’ll need to succeed:

• High School Graduate, satisfactory completion of an approved medical sonography program.
• Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in one discipline including Abdomen, OB/GYN, Small Parts, Breast, or RVT, or registry eligible with 12 months to become registered.
• BLS required.
