Job summary

Methodist Dallas Medical Center in Dallas, TX seeks a Surgical Technician II Certified to support the operating room team in a high-paced setting. You will anticipate surgeon needs, pass instruments, and assist with room turnover and sterilization, ensuring supplies and equipment are ready for each case.

Candidates must be CST-certified, have a high school diploma or GED, and demonstrate advanced competencies in at least three surgical specialties, with BLS certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Graduate of certified Surgical Technologist program or AD in Surgical Technology.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required.
• Advanced competencies in at least three surgical specialties.

Responsibilities

• Anticipate needs of the surgical team and obtain instrumentation and supplies for the procedure.
• Pass instruments to surgeon and assistant during the procedure.
• Assist with terminal cleaning of the room and preparation for the following case.
• Begin cleaning up back table and preparing instruments for terminal cleaning and sterilization as circulator prepares patient to leave the room.
• Place instruments back in the tray for transport to SPD.
• Know and adhere to policy and procedures such as count policy, universal protocol, and labeling of medications.
• Work with students and inexperienced staff on correct method for passing and retrieving instruments during surgical procedures.

Education
