Job summary

St. Joseph's/Candler is seeking an OR Scrub Technician to assist the surgical team by scrubbing cases and aiding the RN with circulating duties.

You will prepare supplies, instruments, and equipment, ensure proper setup between procedures, and support the team in maintaining sterile technique and room readiness. The role requires a high school diploma (preferred), completion of an ORT course, and national certification, with BLS mandatory.

Qualifications

• Light sources, instruments and accessory equipment are consistently checked for proper functioning.
• Performs as buddy scrub as required; builds relationships with surgeons.
• Case carts are completed accurately and promptly.

Responsibilities

• The Scrub Technician, under the direct supervision of the O.R. Staff Nurse, provides patient care through scrubbing surgical cases and assisting the R.N. with circulating duties by helping to obtain the appropriate supplies, instruments and equipment for the surgical procedure.
• Maintains certification and encourages 100% departmental compliance in certification status.
• Participates in and serves on at least one unit based or system committee; acts as a resource and preceptor for newly hired staff.

• Core Job Functions
• Light sources, instruments and accessory equipment are consistently checked for proper functioning. Performs as an assistant to attending physician under the direction of a physician or registered nurse. Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures by cleaning counters, light sources, carts, emptying suction canisters and sets up appropriate equipment for next procedure.
• Perform as buddy scrub as required. Build relationships with surgeons. Network with scrub technicians.
• Correct procedure card for supplies and instruments is identified and used. Sufficient quantities of supplies and instruments are pulled for each procedure. Case carts are completed accurately and promptly.
• Participates in and serves on at least one unit based or system committee. Acts as a resource and preceptor for newly hired staff.
• Maintains certification and encourages 100% departmental compliance in certification status.
