Job description

Responsibilities

1. Performs scrub duties, assisting in patient care and related services in the Operating Room under the guidance of the registered nurse. Prepares supplies and equipment for surgical procedures and applies principles of aseptic technique.
2. Assists in the orientation of new personnel and will orient new associates as needed, based on experience level.
3. Plans for and prepares necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment required for surgical procedures.
4. Demonstrates knowledge and technical skill in the care and use of instruments, supplies, and equipment used during surgical procedures.
5. Performs skin prep as directed.
6. Assists in positioning and draping the patient for the appropriate procedure.
7. Properly identifies and handles medication passed onto the sterile field under the direction of the RN.
8. Completes accurate instrument, sponge, and sharp counts with a Registered Nurse.
9. Performs scrub duties such as handling instruments, holding retractors, cutting sutures, and maintaining a sterile field.
10. Assists in transporting blood products and specimens to and from the Laboratory.
11. Ensures proper care of specimens from surgical procedures.
12. Performs all work in accordance with accepted standards of sanitation, safety, and proper handling techniques, including sterilization and high-level disinfection procedures.
13. Assists Registered Nurse as directed.

Base rate + shift differential

$10,000 sign-on bonus, up to $7,000 education assistance (must have graduated within 5 years)

Qualifications

Education: High school graduate or the equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.

Licensure/Certification: Current Surgical Tech certification required. Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Experience/Pre-Requisites: Previous Operating Room experience preferred.
