Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
Reports to: Director, Women & Infants
FLSA: Non-exempt

Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Licenses: Graduation from a surgical technician program preferred but not required.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)

Required Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently, and capacity to perform under stress.

Essential Functions:

1. Prepares surgical suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, and supplies; ensures equipment is functioning properly.
2. Assists with patient preparation, transportation, positioning, and draping.
3. Passes instruments to the surgeon during procedures; maintains count of instruments and supplies.
4. Receives and processes specimens for laboratory delivery.

Non-Essential Functions:

1. Serves both internal staff and external patients, clients, vendors, and contractors.
2. Handles sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
3. Maintains understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance, including HIPAA, and applies policies and procedures accordingly.
4. Performs additional duties as assigned.
