Job summary

MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, IA is seeking a part-time Surgical Technologist student to join the operating room team. The role supports aseptic technique, room setup, instrument handling and patient care under nurse supervision.

Current enrollment in a Surgical Technologist program within the last 6 months is required; the position offers benefit eligibility from day one and a structured pathway after completion of the program.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Surgical Technologist program and within last 6 months of completion.
• Familiarity with medical asepsis and operating room standards.
• Ability to assist in setting up rooms and managing sterile fields.

Responsibilities

• Assist circulating nurse in patient assessment and care planning.
• Prepare the operating room and instruments for cases; maintain sterile field.
• Ensure correct patient, site, and procedure; transport patients if needed.
• Support resource management and adhere to unit performance standards.
