Job summary

Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Festus, MO is seeking a Surgical Tech - PRN to join the Operating Room team. Qualifications

• Education: High-School Diploma or GED is required.
• Licensure: Non-licensed/certified candidates may be considered.
• Certifications: American Heart Association BLS required.
• Preferred Licensure: Surgical Technology Certification preferred.
• Preferred Education: Postsecondary certificate or associate degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited program.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room for procedures, ensuring sterile instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Maintain sterile technique and anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
• Assemble and organize sterile fields, handle instruments and specimens.
• Assist with room turnover and safe patient positioning throughout the operative process.
• Support surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nursing staff to ensure safe outcomes.

The Operating Room is a high-acuity, fast-paced surgical environment dedicated to delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate care across a wide range of surgical specialties. As an integral member of the perioperative team, the Surgical Technologist plays a critical role in supporting surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nursing staff to ensure optimal surgical outcomes and an exceptional patient experience.

Surgical Technologists are responsible for preparing the operating room for procedures, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and supplies are sterile, functional, and available. They maintain strict adherence to sterile technique, anticipate the needs of the surgical team, and provide support throughout the procedure. Responsibilities also include assembling and organizing sterile fields, handling instruments and specimens, assisting with room turnover, and contributing to safe patient positioning and care throughout the operative process.

• Experience: 24-Hour-Opportunity locations May consider non-experienced perioperative candidates.
• Certifications:American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Other:Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law.
• Preferred Experience: 1 year experience as a Surgical Tech
• Preferred Education:Successful completion ofa Postsecondary certificate orassociatedegreein Surgical Technology from an accredited surgical technology program.
• Preferred Licensure- Certification:Surgical Technology Certification preferred.
