Qualifications

• High School GED or high school diploma required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist or Technologist in Surgery-Certified.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the OR with instruments, equipment and supplies and assist surgeons and nurses by passing instruments and maintaining the sterile field.
• Count sponges, sharps and instruments; handle specimens and assist with patient positioning.
• Maintain aseptic technique and advocate for patient safety throughout procedures.
• Participate in intraoperative planning, instrument setup and room turnover.
• Assist with precepting new staff and students; support OR quality initiatives.
• Ensure all equipment functions properly and report any breaches or non-functional items.
