Job summary

Bolivar Medical Center, part of the ScionHealth network, seeks a Certified Surgical Technician to assist in the operating room under RN supervision. You will ensure a sterile environment, pass instruments, and aid in room turnover to support patient safety and efficiency.

Requirements include a CST credential, BLS, and 12–18 months of acute care OR experience preferred. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CAAHEP-accredited surgical technology program completed.
• CST credential required within facility policy timeframe.
• BLS certification required.
• De-escalation training required within facility policy timeframe.
• 12–18 months acute care OR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room with sterile instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Maintain aseptic technique and sterile field during procedures.
• Pass instruments to surgeon and team during procedures.
• Accurately track sponges, needles and instruments to prevent retention.
• Assist with room turnover and waste disposal.
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment per standards.
• Assist in processing specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Document instrument counts and sterilization indicators.
• Follow infection control and safety protocols.
• Support performance improvement and risk management initiatives.
• Maintain readiness and functionality of surgical instruments and equipment.
