BMC Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist surgeons throughout procedures and work closely with nurses, anesthesiologists, and CRNAs for comprehensive perioperative care. The role requires CST certification and BLS with two years of scrub experience.

The position emphasizes coordination in preparation, intraoperative support, and post-operative care to ensure patient safety and efficient case flow within the operating room environment.

Competenze

• Two (2) years of progressive clinical scrub experience in a CST role.
• Certification requirements as stated above must be active at time of hire.
• Preferred: recommendation from three different multi-specialty surgeons to validate skill competency.

• Performs technical skills required to prepare for surgical procedures.
• Assists other perioperative team members in the care of the surgical patient.
• Provides direct patient care under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
• Under supervision of the surgeon, assists in perioperative care and duties as assigned.
• Assesses patient needs related to specific procedures and gathers supplies/equipment.
• Delivers age-appropriate care addressing cultural, spiritual, and psychosocial needs.
• Maintains a safe environment and reports observations to the RN.
• May assist in scheduling OR cases and updating surgeon preference cards; uses EMR where applicable.
• Functions in Central Reprocessing: decontamination, instrument prep for sterilization, records maintenance.
• Uses proper positioning, hemostasis techniques, wound dressings, and drainage assistance.
