BMC Berkeley Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technologist to function as the surgeons’ assistant under supervision, supporting the nurse, surgeon, and anesthesia team through preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases.

Minimum qualifications include CST certification from NBSTSA/NCCT/AAHA and BLS within 30 days of hire, plus 2 years of scrub experience in CST role. Strong teamwork and patient-care focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Current Surgical Technologist Certification through NBSTSA/NCCT/AAHA.
• One of CSFA/CSA/SA-C certifications.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Two years of progressive clinical scrub experience in a CST role.

Responsabilités

• Performs technical skills for surgical procedures.
• Assists perioperative team in care of the surgical patient.
• Provides direct patient care under RN supervision.
• Assists surgeon in perioperative care under supervision.
• Assesses patient needs and gathers supplies for procedures.
• Delivers age-appropriate care addressing cultural and psychosocial needs.
• Maintains safe environment and reports observations to RN.
• Assists with scheduling OR cases and manages surgeon preference cards in the EMR.
• Functions in Central Reprocessing: decontamination, prep for sterilization, maintains records.
