Job summary

BARNS Barnesville Hospital in Ohio is seeking an experienced Surgical Tech to assist with nursing care and surgical services under supervision. The role requires setting up cases, passing instruments, and ensuring sterile technique to support the surgeon and team.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and BLS within 30 days, with post-5/1/2024 options for licensure or related training. Three years scrub experience is preferred. This on-site position offers day shifts.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Post-5/1/2024 options include licensure as LPN or completion of Surg Tech training or RN program, or 2 years scrub experience.

Responsibilities

• Sets up for scheduled cases with needed supplies and instrumentation.
• Assists in safe transport of patient to operating room and proper positioning on OR table.
• Adheres to patient safety by confirming surgical site and procedure.
• Follows sterile scrubbing and gowning procedures and assists in passing instruments.
• Assists in aseptic technique and handling of sharps, sponges, and other instruments.
• Passes surgical instruments to and from surgeon during procedures.
• Assists in cleaning the operating room and restocking supplies.
• Assists in endoscopic procedures, including positioning and scope decontamination.
• Monitors autoclave function and maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Stocks operating room and supports RN/Physician as needed.
