Unity Hospital in Rochester, NY is seeking an OR Surgical Tech for the Peri-Operative team. The full-time role supports surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses by maintaining sterile fields and passing instruments during procedures.

The candidate will independently scrub in diverse specialties, mentor staff, and pursue ongoing CME. 40 hours weekly, day/evening schedule with 10-hour shifts in a dynamic OR setting.

Qualifications

• Graduated from a Surgical Technology program and certification within 12 months.
• Graduated from an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Eligible under Grandfathering Clause if 1+ year as surgical technologist in healthcare facility between 2010-2014.
• Eligible under Hard-to-Fill Clause with required credentialing within 24 months of employment.
• Completed a military surgical technology program.

Responsabilités

• Prepare operating rooms by checking supplies, setting up sterile fields, and ensuring proper functioning of instruments and equipment.
• Assist surgeons during procedures by maintaining aseptic technique, passing instruments, counting sponges/sharps, and preparing dressings.
• Demonstrate advanced first-scrub proficiency across multiple surgical specialties and respond effectively in emergencies.
• Mentor and orient new staff, students, and surgical technologists; contribute to unit goals and quality improvements.
• Maintain Continuing Medical Education (15 hours annually) and knowledge of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, and surgical practices.

Formation

CAAHEP/ABHES-accredited Surgical Technology program

Practical nursing program (accredited)

Grandfathering Clause (one year of S.T. experience 2010-2014)

Hard-to-Fill Clause credentialing within 24 months
