Qualifikationen

• Graduate from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited Surgical Technology program and obtain certification within 12 months of graduation.
• Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Qualify under the Grandfathering Clause by proving at least one year of surgical technologist employment between Dec 31, 2010 and Dec 31, 2014.
• Qualify under the Hard-to-Fill Clause by graduating from an accredited program and certification within 24 months of hire.

Aufgaben

• Maintain a minimum of 15 Continuing Medical Education hours annually.
• Prepare and check instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures.
• Set up and maintain a sterile field, following strict aseptic techniques.
• Assist with patient draping and ensure the surgical team is properly attired.
• Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon during procedures.
• Perform accurate sponge and sharp counts with the circulating nurse.
• Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization.
• Support specialty surgical services and stock OR rooms as needed.
• Prepare sterile dressings and assist with post-operative care.
• Help orient new staff and contribute to unit goals and objectives.
• May handle medications, sharps, and syringes on the sterile field.
