Job summary

Salinas Valley Health in Salinas, CA, is seeking a Surgical Technician to assist the surgical team as a scrub and circulating assistant under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role requires scrubbing on all types of procedures with aseptic technique and supporting room turnover and equipment readiness.

Ideal candidates have a surgical technician training background, BLS certification, and at least one year of clinical OR experience; CORT preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved surgical technician training program preferred.
• Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards required.
• CORT credential preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) year clinical experience as a Surgical Technician in a surgery center required.
• Experience in acute care hospital operating room is preferred.
• Scrub skills for General Gyne and GU surgery are required; Ortho scrub skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team as scrub and/or circulating assistant under RN supervision.
• Scrub on all types of procedures maintaining aseptic technique.
• Transport patients and set up the surgical back table; mobilize and pre-test equipment; assist in room cleanup.
• Stock inventories and maintain supplies in surgical suites and carts to par level.
• Provide assistance to anesthesia staff as necessary; take call for after-hours emergencies.
