Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program required or
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences required
• 0–2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains the operating room for procedures with sterile equipment.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments accurately.
• Handles surgical instruments and ensures proper sterilization and inspection.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse.
• Assists in patient positioning, draping, and transfer methods.
• Maintains physician preference cards and restocks supplies.
• Cleans, reprocesses, and sterilizes equipment per protocols.
• Ensures OR readiness for subsequent cases.
• Follows infection prevention standards and facility policies.
