Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room and field with instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
• Assists during procedures by anticipating surgeon needs and passing instruments promptly.
• Applies aseptic technique and infection control to ensure patient safety.
• Conducts sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse.
• Labels and documents surgical specimens for pathology.
• Transports instruments for decontamination and storage.
• Maintains room turnover and restocks supplies.
