Job summary

Scotland Health Care System in Laurinburg, NC is seeking a Surgical Tech Lead for General Surgery. You will participate in quality initiatives, assist in complex procedures, manage sterilization and instrument sets, and support the OR team during all phases of surgery.

Responsibilities

• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and audits.
• Serves as a resource for complex or specialized surgical procedures.
• Maintains inventory and ensures availability of surgical supplies related to specialty.
• Prepares for surgical procedures by identifying, selecting and setting up instruments using aseptic technique.
• Inspects all equipment, instruments and packaging to ensure sterility and proper function.
• Utilizes sterilization principles in processing instruments and equipment.
• Uses proper hand washing technique and prepares OR field according to standards.
• Anticipates surgeons' needs as to instruments and suture.
• Keeps operative field neat, clean and dry.
• Passes specimens to circulating nurse and documents prostheses, drains and catheters.
• Disposes of used supplies according to procedure.
• Assists with room cleanup and setup.
• Returns reusable equipment and supplies to appropriate place.
• Counts sponges, instruments, and sharps prior to incision and at closure.
• Assists in positioning patient on table.
• Supports continuity of patient care and assists with cleaning/restocking.

• Age-specific competency across life span; supports patient care accordingly.
• Assists in preparing patients and OR environments for surgery and supports medical staff during procedures.

Consults with other staff members when in question or unfamiliar with equipment or procedures. 21.Assists in preparing patients and operating room environments for surgery and provides assistance to the medical staff during surgical procedures. 22.Maintains the cleanliness of the operating room environments for surgery and provides assistance to the medical staff during surgical procedures. 23.Performs operating room scrubs and provides scrub and circular services as required. 24.Monitors compliance with infection control and safety standards. 25.Establishes stock levels for requisitioning supplies and equipment and supervises their storage and issue.
