Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support endoscopy and surgical procedures. The role requires scrubbing for surgeries, assisting during endoscopy, and maintaining sterile techniques under RN supervision.

The position necessitates BLS certification, with preference for certification in surgical technology and 5 years of experience or completion of an accredited program. The candidate must be capable of a flexible schedule and adapt to department needs.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or military program (Online surgical tech programs not accepted) or 5 years of Surgical Technologist experience.
• Required BLS certification through American Heart Association.
• Preferred certification in surgical technology.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care duties.
• Organizes activities and supplies based on surgery schedule and daily needs of the department.
• Competently cares for and provides services to patients under supervision of the staff nurse.
• Communicates information pertaining to patient care needs to patients, family members and co-workers.
• Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials.
• Adapts to rapid changes in the department caused by unit census, patient acuity and resource availability.
• Performs other related duties as required.
