Job summary

UNC Health's Labor and Delivery is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist I to join the maternity team. This full-time role works a 36-hour week with day/night rotating shifts, including weekends, under surgeon and RN supervision to ensure safe, sterile operative environments and efficient procedures.

The position supports C-sections and obstetrical procedures, maintains sterile technique, handles instruments, and mentors trainees.

Qualifications

• 0-3 years of professional experience as a surgical technologist.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program; Military training accepted.
• Formal education may substitute for experience under certain conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assists in operating room setup and sterile technique for procedures.
• Maintains sterile field and prepares instruments for use.
• Assists with C-sections and obstetrical procedures as directed.
• Ensures proper cleaning and handling of instruments and equipment.
• Participates in intraoperative activities and supports the surgical team.
