Job summary

Vanderbilt Health is seeking a Surgical Tech II for the Peri-Op float pool. This PRN role supports physicians and nursing staff before, during, and after surgical procedures by maintaining sterile fields and supplying instruments as needed.

The position allows involvement across multiple operating rooms within a dynamic perioperative team. Qualifications include graduation from an approved surgical technologist program, at least one year of relevant experience, and NBSTSA CST or NCCT TS-C

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved surgical technologist program or equivalent military training.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience as a surgical technologist.
• Certification from NBSTSA CST or NCCT TS-C, or graduation from military program with exemption.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates patient care by assisting the surgeon before, during and after procedures.
• Sets up and maintains the sterile field and provides instruments as required.
• Performs counts of sharps, sponges and instruments per policy.
• Demonstrates asepsis principles to maintain sterile field.
• Assists as circulator and scrub tech as assigned; supports multiple cases per shift.
