Job summary

Sharp HealthCare is seeking an operating room/surgical technician to provide direct patient care and unit support in the OR suite. The role requires recent OR experience or graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program, plus AHA BLS certification.

You will help prepare cases, maintain sterile fields, and assist with safety initiatives. The position supports 40 hours per 2 weeks (0.5 FTE), includes on-call duties, and weekend as needed, with variable shift times on-site in

Qualifications

• Experience as an operating room or surgical technician within the last 12 months or recent graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program.
• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals is required.

Responsibilities

• Communicate updates to surgeon preference card and report to relieving scrub personnel.
• Ensure instrument trays match the provided instrument list and escalate if incomplete; handle instruments/ equipment properly.
• Support quality and safety goals, including time-outs, labeling, hand hygiene, and PPE compliance.
• Assist in controlling costs and optimizing supplies while supporting patient care.
• Triage department tasks and assist with orientation and training of new staff.
