Job summary

MUHA / MUSC Health in Columbia, SC seeks a Certified Surgical Tech I to assist in preparing sterile supplies and equipment for surgical procedures and to support the operating room team.

Under general supervision, the candidate will perform room duties linked to direct patient care, maintain sterile technique, and demonstrate skill to provide age-appropriate care with consideration for patients and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma as required.
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or military equivalent.
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential preferred; if not certified, evidence of continuous employment in SC as Surgical Technologist before 1/1/2008 is required.
• Two years of OR experience preferred.
• BLS certification required within 2 weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sterile supplies and equipment for surgical procedures following guides.
• Perform room duties involved with direct patient care as part of the OR team.
• Demonstrate knowledge to provide care matching patient development and family needs.
• Work under general supervision and autonomously when in the OR team.

Education
