Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUHA) seeks a Certified Surgical Tech I to assist in preparing sterile supplies and equipment for surgeries, perform OR room duties, and operate as an autonomous team member in the surgical setting.

The role requires a high school diploma, accredited surgical technology education, and Certified Surgical Technologist credential with BLS; two years OR experience preferred. Sign-on bonus of $10,000 is offered. MUSC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• Graduation from an accredited school of surgical technology or surgical technology military program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential; if not certified, evidence of continuous employment in SC before Jan 1, 2008 is required.
• New graduates must obtain certification within 90 days of graduation.
• Two years experience in the operating room preferred.
• Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire.
• Current BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sterile supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Perform room duties involved with direct patient care.
• Function autonomously as a member of the operating room team.
• Demonstrate knowledge to provide care appropriate to patient needs and family considerations.
