Job summary

Shriners Children’s is seeking a Surgical Tech I to assist the surgical team during procedures. This entry-level position involves preparing the operating room, handling instruments and maintaining a sterile environment to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

Key responsibilities include equipment preparation, sterile field maintenance, and adherence to counts for sharps, sponges and instruments. CPR is required; a High School Diploma or GED is required, and certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist preferred.
• CPR certification required.
• Minimum 1 year experience with scrub and circulation skills.
• Experience with sterile technique, infection control, sterilization and disinfection procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Anticipate, select, use and maintain equipment and supplies for surgical procedure.
• Prepare and maintain sterile field throughout surgical procedure.
• Follow established policies and procedures for sharps, sponge and instrument counts.
• Assist in transportation, housekeeping and Sterile Processing as assigned.
