Job summary

What’s Upstate is seeking a Surgical Tech Extern to assist in the Operating Room. This role involves providing patient care through various preparatory and scrubbing services necessary for surgical procedures.

The successful candidate must be enrolled in the MVCC Surgical Technologist program and possess a high school diploma. Responsibilities include working with surgical teams, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring patient safety.

Flexible shifts are required including weekends and holidays. Pay range is $18.00 hourly.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment and good standing in the MVCC Surgical Technologist program, with completion of the first and second cohort.
• Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer proficiency is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing a clean, safe, and efficient area for optimal patient care.
• Act as a scrub assistant during surgical procedures.
• Maintain accurate instrument and sponge counts.
• Transport patients, equipment, and supplies efficiently.
• Adhere to infection control programs and safety procedures.
