Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas West in Nashville, TN, seeks a Surgical Technician to support the Cardiac Operating Room team. The role involves preparing the surgical suite, passing instruments, and assisting with patient positioning under the surgeon's guidance.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted) within 1 month of hire.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from NBSTSA prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and instruments.
• Hand required instruments to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain and track instrument counts during procedures.

Education

High School diploma equivalency with 2 years cumulative experience

Associate's degree/Technical degree

4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions as well as appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required/requested instruments and supply to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor/track instruments counts throughout procedures.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
