Job summary

100 LCMC Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our OR team in Louisiana. Your focus will be on safe surgery, maintaining sterile fields, and supporting the circulating nurse with patient positioning and room turnover.

You will scrub during procedures and ensure asepsis, preparing the back table and instruments per surgeon preference. The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited program, CST certified, and BLS current, with ophthalmology/neuro/spine/robotics experience

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) NBSTSA or NCCT.
• Current BLS certification.
• Previous Surgical Tech experience is highly preferred.
• Ophthalmology, Neuro/Spine, Robotics experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the circulating nurse with patient positioning, confirmation/preparation of operative site, care of operative specimens and room turnover.
• Establish and maintain an organized sterile field.
• Provide scrub assistance during procedures with awareness of anatomy, necessary principles, skills, supplies, and adequate knowledge base.
• Demonstrate asepsis and select proper sterilization methods of instruments/equipment prior to procedures and report unsafe practices to the circulating nurse.
• Prepare the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures based on scheduled procedure and surgeon preference card.
• Follow policies for scrubbing, gowning, gloving, setting up back table, draping and counting with the circulating nurse.
