Job summary

CHRISTUS Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist in the pre-operative and intraoperative care of patients in the Operating Room. This full-time role covers the 7PM–7AM shift and requires maintaining a sterile field, passing instruments, and assisting the physician as needed.

The candidate should have completed a Surgical Technology program or LVN/LPN program, be BLS certified, and obtain CST within 180 days of graduation or hold an LVN/LPN license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of the Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program is required.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of OneCHRISTUS Competencies.
• Under the direction of a professional nurse, performs all processes related to delivery of direct patient care and assistance in the OR prior to and during any surgical procedure.
• Establishes and maintains the sterile field, passes instruments, and sutures to the physician, and assists as directed by the physician.
• Uses physician preference card when pulling cases and setting up the OR.
• Ensures that preference cards are up to date and complete.
• Works effectively as a team member caring for the patient.
• Maintains a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices.
• Demonstrates clinical expertise in the use and care of surgical supplies and equipment.
• Follows Universal Barrier Precautions for patient and personal safety.
