Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a skilled Surgical Tech to support the operating room team, maintaining sterile technique, facilitating instrument setup, and ensuring rapid room turnovers in a high-volume cardiac care setting. The position supports on-call duties and requires attention to detail for patient safety.

Ideal candidates have a surgical technician background, BLS certification, and Colorado DORA eligibility if working in CO. Relocation and sign-on bonuses are offered where eligible.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program is required.
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• Colorado DORA registration as a surgical technologist if working in Colorado.
• Certification: NBSTSA or NCCT for surgical technologists.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile technique and OR readiness throughout procedures.
• Assist with counts, back table and mayo stand setup.
• Ensure sterile tables and necessary supplies are prepared before incision.
• Provide on-call coverage per department policy.
• Anticipate potential problems and adjust for emergent cases as needed.

• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation, before incision is closed and as needed.
• Prepare back table and mayo stand anticipating needs of the surgeon and through the use of the surgeon’s preference card.
• Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure by checking package integrity, indicators and opening procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
• Ability to provide oncall coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and/or facility policy.
• Anticipates possible problems or complications that could arise during case.
• Adjusts quickly and prepares for emergent cases that change workflow.

We are offering a $10,000 Sign on bonus in addition up to $10,000 relocation assistance to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

Schedule-40hrs/week-variable shift start time/ Day of week per surgical volume and current unit needs. TBD during interview with OR Manager.

Call required- 1-2 weekday/night call shifts and 1x48hr weekend call shift per 4 week schedule.

30 min Callback radius required.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma/G.E.D.
• Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program.
• Current Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association
• Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. * A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech
• Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Preferred

• One (1) year of experience in a surgical setting
• Experience in a specialty field
• Previous OR Experience highly preferred

Where You'll Work

As a Surgical Technologist in the Cardiac Cath Lab at St. Catherine Hospital, you will serve as a vital clinical partner to Interventional Cardiologists and Radiologists facilitating high-volume cardiovascular diagnostic and interventional procedures. You will function as a surgical techs managing the sterile field. You will be instrumental in maintaining clinical efficiency by optimizing surgeon preference cards and ensuring rapid room turnovers, while also demonstrating essential competency in high-acuity Code STEMI and Code Stroke alerts. By documenting intervention outcomes, supporting nursing functions, and providing patient education with a focus on service excellence, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional cardiac care as part of a collaborative, fast-paced, and on-call-capable interventional team.

Pay Range
