Job summary

Methodist Healthcare System in Texas seeks a Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist to support physicians during lifesaving cardiac procedures using state‑of‑the‑art cath lab technology. The role emphasizes patient education, precision in treatment, and compassionate care within a strong team environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with angiograms, angioplasties, and stent placements, as well as preparing patients and maintaining advanced equipment for safe, high‑quality care.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School graduate or GED required.
  • Experience: one of: 1 year invasive cardiovascular tech experience; associate degree/62 sem hrs in health/science; CHEA/USDOE/CMA accredited program; non-accredited program with 1 year training & 800 clinical hours.
  • Licenses/registrations: ARRT; RCIS/RCES within 24 months; RCIS; RCES; Certified Surgical Tech or Registered Respiratory Therapist; EMT‑B/EMT‑P or military EMT with 10+ years experience.
  • Initial training in diagnostic cardiac catheterization, peripheral angiography/PTCA and related devices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians with complex cardiac/vascular procedures (angiograms, angioplasties, stent placements).
  • Prepare and support patients and families before, during, and after procedures.
  • Operate and maintain advanced cath lab equipment to deliver safe, effective treatment.
  • Monitor patient responses with vigilance to ensure high-quality care.
  • Maintain sterile environment and advocate for every patient.

Your Responsibilities
  • Assisting physicians with complex cardiac and vascular procedures, including angiograms, angioplasties, and stent placements
  • Preparing and supporting patients and families with care, education, and reassurance before, during, and after procedures
  • Operating and maintaining advanced equipment to deliver safe and effective treatment
  • Monitoring patient responses with vigilance and compassion to ensure the highest level of care
  • Safeguarding a sterile, safe environment while serving as an advocate for every patient
Qualifications
  • Education: High School graduate or GED required.
  • Experience: New hires as of 6/1/2013 must have one of the following:
    • A. At least one year of full‑time invasive cardiovascular technology experience.
    • B. An associate degree or equivalent college hours (62 semester hours) in health, science, natural science, nursing, engineering or any primary science or higher.
    • C. Graduate of an accredited (by CHEA, USDOE, or CMA) program in invasive cardiovascular technology.
    • D. Graduate of a non‑programmatically accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology with a minimum of one year of specialty training and at least 800 clinical hours.
  • Initial and ongoing training and competencies in:
    • Diagnostic cardiac catheterization
    • Peripheral angiography / PTCA, stent implantation
    • Aspiration/Extraction devices
    • Distal embolization protection devices, PTA and peripheral stent implantation
    • Vascular closure devices
    • Intra‑aortic balloon pump
    • Temporary transvenous pacing
    • Implantable defibrillators/pacemakers (elective/emergent)
    • Various interventional radiology procedures
  • Preferred: Two years of full‑time invasive cardiovascular technology experience.
  • Preferred: Baccalaureate in health, science, natural science, nursing, engineering or any primary science and six months of full‑time invasive cardiovascular technology experience.
Minimum Licenses, Certificates, or Registrations
  • Must hold one of the following credentials:
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
    • Current certification eligible Cath Lab Technicians must successfully pass RCIS/RCES exam within 24 months from start date.
    • RCIS (Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist) from CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International).
    • RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist).
    • Certified Surgical Tech or Registered Respiratory Therapist.
    • EMT‑B (Basic) / EMT‑P (Paramedic) or Military EMT equivalent with 10+ years experience.
