Job summary

AdventHealth in Manchester, KY is seeking a Surgical Technician to support operative procedures on a full-time, day shift. You will prepare sterile equipment, assist the surgical team, and maintain sterile technique during operations.

Requirements include a Surgical Technology program graduation or equivalently validated training, High School diploma, and BLS CPR certification. Prior OR exposure is preferred to ensure quick integration and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Interpersonal skills required.

• Knowledge of sterilization techniques and instrumentation.
• Completion of validation skills required.
• Education in Surgical Technology program or related field.

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and meds/solutions.
• Performs counts with circulator before incision.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Assists in draping sterile field and passes instruments.

Job Description:

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures. Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Helps in draping sterile field.
• Passes instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedures.
• Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures.
• Prepares sterile dressings and cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient.
• Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy.
• Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Must have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care which addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety age appropriate needs of the patient populations served within the department. [Required]
