Job summary

A leading health care provider in Tampa is looking for a certified Surgical Technologist to support surgical procedures. Candidates must have completed a Technical/Vocational School and hold certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) as well as Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Technician in Surgery (NTSC). The role requires meticulous attention to sterile technique and the ability to respond to emergency situations. The pay range is $23.71 - $44.09 per hour with benefits from day one.

Qualifications

• Completion of Technical/Vocational School is required.
• 2+ years experience as a certified surgical tech is preferred.
• Proficient in a minimum of 2 surgical specialties is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Maintains sterile technique during procedures.
• Assists with terminal cleaning of the room.
• Recognizes and responds to emergency situations.
• Prepares sterile dressings and cleans instruments for sterilization.

Job Description

Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures. Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures. Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning. Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed. Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants. Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient. Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy. Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately. Performs other duties as assigned. Helps in draping sterile field. Passes instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedures. Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures. Prepares sterile dressings and cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
