Job summary

PeaceHealth in Longview, WA, is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for the Surgical Services team. This 1.0 FTE Day shift role provides managerial assistance and clinical education for surgery and procedural departments at St. John Medical Center.

The position reports to the Nurse Manager and drives staffing, education, quality initiatives, and budget monitoring to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing is required.
  • BSN is required or enrollment in a program with a target graduation date within 2 years of hire.
  • Minimum 3 years' Operating Room RN experience, or related perioperative/procedural experience.
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory/leadership experience in healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate education, training, and competency programs.
  • Assist Nurse Managers with staffing oversight, quality initiatives, and workflow optimization.
  • Provide leadership and communication to the department and staff.
  • Assist in planning, advising on clinical service delivery, and budget monitoring.
  • Support staff supervision, counseling, and performance assessments.

Consider joining our Surgical Services leadership team in a full-time Assistant Nurse Manager role. In this 1.0 FTE Day shift position you\'ll provide managerial assistance and clinical education for the surgery and procedural departments at St. John Medical Center.

The salary range for this full-time exempt position is $134,264 - $201,406.

Located in Longview, Washington, PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center is a 177-bed acute care medical center that is part of PeaceHealth, a non-profit mission driven healthcare system in the Pacific Northwest. The area’s sole community hospital and level III trauma center, along with our multi-specialty Medical Group, provides dozens of medical specialty services and programs including emergency, trauma, heart, behavioral health, bone and joint, cancer, birthing and women’s services.

Position Details:

The position is responsible for providing managerial assistance and clinical education for the Surgical Services departments at St. John Medical Center. This position is directly accountable to the Nurse Manager and is responsible for support in the following areas: hiring; staffing and scheduling; orientation; performance assessment; budget monitoring; maintaining and establishing patient care standards; policies and procedures.

  • Lead and coordinate education, training, and competency programs.
  • Assist Nurse Managers with staffing oversight, quality initiatives, and workflow optimization.
  • Demonstrates compassion, respect and caring while working within the scope of Registered Nurse Practice to provide individualized, safe and efficient care to patients and assistance to their families and visitors. Proactively implement measures to promote a safety climate on the unit, considering the inter-relationship of people, tools, and environment in which are is provided.
  • Provide leadership, management, and communication skills to department.
  • Assist Nurse Manager in planning, recommendation, and implementation of clinical service delivery. Recommend policy changes which enhance nursing ability to achieve top quartile performance.
  • Assist Nurse Manager with the staff supervision, counseling and documentation of personnel actions.
  • Assist Nurse Manager with the evaluation of work performance and performance assessments.
  • Promote, establish and maintain open communication.
  • Assist Nurse Manager with budget monitoring.
  • Lead and coordinate education, training, and competency programs
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing required
  • BSN required or actively enrolled in a program with a targeted graduation date w/in 2 years of date of hire.
  • Minimum of 3 years\' Operating Room RN experience, may consider experience in other perioperative and procedural departments.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory/leadership experience in healthcare organization (Charge Nurse, Clinical Nurse Educator, Lead, Supervisor, etc)
  • Preferred: Financial and budgetary experience

Credentials

  • Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support Certification
  • Required: WA RN license

Skills

  • Strong problem solving, decision making and time management skills (Preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal (Preferred)
  • Proficient in the use of computers including MS Office applications (Required)
