Job summary

PeaceHealth's Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield, Oregon seeks a registered nurse for full-time night shifts (0.9 FTE). The role offers a $9.50 night shift differential and a competitive salary range with a signing bonus and relocation eligibility.

Responsibilities include planning, providing, and documenting patient care; delegating tasks to the care team; and actively participating in safety and quality initiatives. Oregon RN licensure and BLS are required.

Qualifications

  • RN degree from an accredited school and Oregon license.
  • Minimum one year RN experience in acute care preferred.
  • Experience with post-ICU, trauma, urology and gynecology patients preferred.
  • Required: State of Oregon nursing license; Required Upon Hire: BLS.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
  • Document care in the health record per standards.
  • Direct and delegate care to team members by education and competence.
  • Maintain professional development and adherence to hospital policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement, safety, infection control.

Essential Functions
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
  • Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
  • Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
  • Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  • Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
  • Degree from an accredited school of nursing
Experience
  • Minimum one year RN experience required: in an acute care facility or successful completion of a training course/orientation and standard competencies within six months of hire.
  • Experience in caring for post ICU, trauma, urology and gynecology patients is preferred.
Credentials
  • Required: State of Oregon nursing license
  • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support

Department / Location Specific Notes

Medical/Surgical- Observation Unit & Neurology:

  • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) required within 6 months.
Working Conditions
Lifting
  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
  • Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
  • Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
  • Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
  • Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
Environmental Conditions
  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
Mental/Visual
  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
