Job summary

Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO is seeking a part-time or full-time Patient Care Associate / Patient Care Technician for the Surgical Stepdown Unit.

The role involves direct patient care, vital signs, and assisting with daily activities, with opportunities to advance through Mercy’s training programs. You will join a multidisciplinary team focused on high-quality patient outcomes, with a sign-on bonus and a structured development path including BLS and PCA competencies.

Qualifications

• Education requirements include a high school diploma or GED, CNA/CPTC certification, or enrollment in a healthcare program.
• No prior experience required for the PCA/PCT role.
• Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs and prolonged standing/walking.
• Certifications: BLS within one month; PCA competencies within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Record vital signs and enter data into the electronic medical record.
• Assist patients with daily needs (meals, bathing, toileting, mobility).
• Provide clerical support as needed.
• Perform phlebotomy, enteral feedings, and wound care (PCT).
• Remove IVs and Foley catheters; provide tracheostomy care and suctioning.
