Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach is seeking an Experienced Surgical Step Down RN to join our fast-paced acute care team. You will monitor surgical patients in telemetry, manage vasoactive medications, and support post-operative care with a focus on patient safety and comfort.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of RN experience in surgical step-down or critical care, a Florida license, ACLS/BLS certification, and strong teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Current Florida nursing license required.
• ACLS/BLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years RN experience in Surgical/Step-down.
• Ability to administer IV meds and manage critical care equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain annual clinical competence for surgical patients and telemetry.
• Assess patient data and respond to changes in condition promptly.
• Perform tracheostomy care per policy.
• Administer medications via PCA or Epidural pumps.
• Monitor ABG results and adjust care as needed.
• Prepare patients post-operatively and provide teaching to families.
• Document patient responses and progress each shift.
• Demonstrate safe use of unit equipment and aseptic technique.
