Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center is seeking an experienced Surgical Step Down Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality care on the step-down unit in Miami Beach. You will manage postoperative patients, monitor telemetry, administer medications, and participate in interdisciplinary care plans with timely interventions.

Expect 12-hour shifts, ongoing professional development, and a collaborative team environment focused on patient safety and clinical excellence in a tertiary care setting.

Qualifications

• Maintains annual clinical competence in care of surgical patients and telemetry patients.
• Interprets ABG results and responds to data.
• Administers medications and manages vasoactive drips per policy.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments and document findings.
• Provide postoperative care and wound management.
• Administer IV therapies and monitor patient responses.
• Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care instructions.
• Monitor hemodynamic status and respond to changes per interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Assist in patient education and discharge planning.
• Maintain unit equipment and ensure aseptic technique.
• Document chart checks and transfer processes.
