Job summary

AdventHealth in Rome, GA is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support surgical teams by preparing sterile fields, passing instruments, and maintaining sterility throughout procedures. The role requires adherence to sterile technique and efficient collaboration with surgeons and staff.

Expected to perform instrument counts, gowning, and assist in room turnover while ensuring patient safety and comfort. BLS certification is preferred and high school graduation is required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field setup.
• Knowledge of sterilization techniques.
• Completion of validation skills.
• Interpersonal skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures; scrubs, gowns, and gloves for procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions as needed.
• Performs counts with circulator prior to incision and before closure.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants; helps in draping sterile field.

Job Description:

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Helps in draping sterile field.
• Passes instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedures.
• Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures.
• Prepares sterile dressings and cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient.
• Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy.
• Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Must have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care which addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety age appropriate needs of the patient populations served within the department. [Required]
