Job summary

The Surgical Services Advanced Practice Provider (APP) role at Penn State Health offers the chance to practice in a fast-paced surgical environment where no two days are the same. APPs are trusted members of the surgical team, using advanced clinical judgment, procedural skills, and independent decision-making across the perioperative and inpatient continuum.

The position provides daytime and overnight support for Acute Care Surgery, General Surgery, and subspecialties, with cross-coverage

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure requirements in the State of employment
• National Certification in State of employment or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in the State of employment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Responsibilities

• Inpatient rounding, surgical first assistance, and ACS consultations
• Preoperative and postoperative care, discharge planning, and care coordination across teams
• Cross-coverage during overnight hours to ensure 24/7 APP-level surgical care
