Job summary

Safety Harbor Surgery Center is seeking a Surgical Scrub Technologist to support sterile technique and assist the surgical team in multiple specialty procedures. You will work closely with circulating nurses to maintain a sterile environment and ensure patient safety throughout operations.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED with a Scrub Technician program; two years of scrub experience in various specialties and familiarity with medical terminology.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; completion of Scrub Technician Program; certification preferable.
• Two years' experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures in an operating room.

Responsibilities

• Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during set up of surgical procedures.
• Assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment.
• Assists circulating nurse in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment.
• Counts sponges, needles, and instruments pre-operatively and intra-operatively with circulating nurse.
• Gowns and gloved surgeons and assistants.
• Keeps physician preference cards accurate and updated.
• Transports surgical equipment for cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets.
• Maintains patient and staff privacy and confidentiality per policy.
• Participates in safety training and emergency preparedness activities.
