Job summary

USPI New Mexico Surgery Center Multi Specialty Downtown is hiring a Surgical Tech! The Surgical Scrub Technologist will anticipate the needs of the surgical team and establish a sterile field during procedures in the operating room.

Reports to the Clinical Director/Administrator. The role requires assisting the circulating nurse, maintaining a sterile environment, sterile supply management, and adherence to safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Two years experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties or equivalent.
• General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for an operating room.

Responsibilities

• Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during set up of surgical procedures.
• Assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment.
• Assists circulating nurse in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts pre-operatively and intra-operatively with the circulating nurse.
• Gowns and gloves surgeons and assistants.
• Maintains surgeon preference cards accuracy/updated.
• Retains specimens for pathology, confirming source/name with surgeon.
• Transports equipment to cleaning areas and assists in instrument reprocessing.
• Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, and staff; maintains privacy and confidentiality.

Skills

Two years experience as Scrub Tech

Medical terminology familiarity

Education

High School Diploma/GED

Scrub Technician Program completion

Certification preferable
