Job summary

United Surgical Partners International in Parker, CO is seeking a Scrub Technician to anticipate the needs of the surgical team and establish and maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures in the operating room.

You will assist the physician with operative procedures and coordinate with the circulating nurse, count sponges and instruments, gown and glove staff, and ensure patient safety through Universal Precautions.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• State of Colorado Surgical Registry required.
• BLS required.
• Surgical Technologist State License.
• Surgical Technologist National Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist physician with operative procedures and anticipate surgeon/physician’s needs in preparing and during procedures.
• Ensure sterility of all supplies and instruments during setup.
• Handle instruments to prolong their life.
• Assist circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment.
• Assist in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment and perform counts pre-operatively and intra-operatively.
• Gown and glove surgeons and assistants.
• Maintain accuracy of physician preference cards.
• Retain specimens for pathology and confirm source/name with surgeon.
• Transport equipment and assist in cleaning/reprocessing of instrument sets.
• Interact with patients and staff with respect to age and background.
• Follow Universal Precautions and safety guidelines and ensure personal safety.
• Assist with infection control surveillance and emergency drills.
• Comply with policies and safety guidelines to ensure safe patient care.
