Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician Program.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist.
• Minimum 5 years operating room experience.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Set up and perform surgical cases by assembling equipment and supplies according to physician preference cards.
• Open sterile packs, supplies, and instruments according to sterile technique.
• Prepare sterile field, including sponge, needle, and instrument counts; ensure sterility of supplies and instruments.
• Assist in clean-up of the operating room after surgery and proper disposal of used supplies and sharps.
• May assist the circulating nurse in preparing patient for surgery and positioning the patient.
• Demonstrate aseptic principles in all duties and maintain instrument location awareness.
• Assist with intra-operative safety, infection control, and handling hazardous material.
• Perform other duties and clinic responsibilities as assigned.
