Job summary

Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic is seeking a Surgical Scrub Tech for St. Mary Medical Center in Bucks County. The position supports Surgical Services in Labor and Delivery, working under RN supervision to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities include maintaining sterile technique, assisting in room setup, passing instruments, and collaborating with the circulating nurse. Requires Surgical Tech Certification and high school diploma, with 1–2 years of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in high school or equivalent.
• Surgical Tech Certification required.
• 1–2 years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Applies sterile technique (gowning, gloving, draping).
• Scrubs, handles, and passes instrumentation with aseptic technique; anticipate needs.
• Assist in transfer and positioning of patients.
• Collaborate with circulating nurse for room prep and equipment organization.
• Maintain and monitor the sterile field continuously.
• Maintain equipment and instrumentation in good condition.
• Respond to emergencies to prioritize patient needs.
• Act as a patient advocate with safe, ethical practice.
• Demonstrate proper use of sterilizers.

144 hour minimum commitment per 6 week schedule, 3 weekend shifts per 6 week schedule, 1 Winter Holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), 1 Spring/Summer Holiday (Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day)

The Surgical Technician works in a collaborative environment at St Mary within Surgical Services to provide safe, quality health care services & / or assistance to patients under the supervision & direction of a registered nurse or other designated health care professional in accordance with level of experience, education, policies & procedures.Must have additional training through the achievement of in-house certifications or have successful completion of role specific certification or licensing.

What You Will Do as a Scrub Tech:

• Applies scientific principles in adhering to sterile technique (gowning, gloving, draping etc.
• demonstrates proper scrubbing skills, handles, and passes instrumentation utilizing aseptic technique and can anticipate patient and surgeon needs.
• Assists in transfer and positioning of patients.
• Collaborates with circulating nurse in room preparation, selecting supplies, and equipment is organized fashion.
• Creates, maintains, and monitors the sterile field continuously.
• Takes responsibility for maintaining equipment and instrumentation in proper functional condition.
• Assess and responds appropriately in an emergency situation to prioritize and meets the patients’ immediate needs.
• Acts as a patient advocate and protect the patient’s rights through safe and ethical practice.
• Demonstrates safe, proper, and appropriate use of sterilizers.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in high school, completing a GED, or obtained a high school diploma or GED.
• Surgical Tech Certification required
• 1-2 years of experience preferred.
