Responsibilities

Minimum Working Requirements: 144 hour minimum commitment per 6 week schedule, 3 weekend shifts per 6 week schedule, 1 Winter Holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), 1 Spring/Summer Holiday (Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day)

Shift:Night Shift (7pm-7:30am)
Location: St. Mary Medical Center

The Surgical Technician works in a collaborative environment atSt Mary within Surgical Services to provide safe, quality health care services & / or assistance to patients under the supervision & direction of a registered nurse or other designated health care professional in accordance with level of experience, education, policies & procedures. Must have additional training through the achievement of in-house certifications or have successful completion of role specific certification or licensing .

What You Will Do as a Scrub Tech:

• Applies scientific principles in adhering to sterile technique (gowning, gloving, draping etc.

• demonstrates proper scrubbing skills, handles, and passes instrumentation utilizing aseptic technique and can anticipate patient and surgeon needs.

• Assists in transfer and positioning of patients.

• Collaborates with circulating nurse in room preparation, selecting supplies, and equipment is organized fashion.

• Creates, maintains, and monitors the sterile field continuously.

• Takes responsibility for maintaining equipment and instrumentation in proper functional condition.

• Assess and responds appropriately in an emergency situation to prioritize and meets the patients’ immediate needs.

• Acts as a patient advocate and protect the patient’s rights through safe and ethical practice.

• Demonstrates safe, proper, and appropriate use of sterilizers.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in high school, completing a GED, or obtained a high school diploma or GED.

• Surgical Tech Certification required

• 1-2 years of experience preferred.
