Job summary

North Shore Medical Center is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. Responsibilities include preparing sterile sets, passing instruments to surgeons, and assisting with patient positioning and wound care.

Candidate must have 1 year of surgical scrub experience, GI experience preferred, and must be fluent in English. High school diploma or equivalent required; standing for long periods is expected.

Qualifications

• Must have 1 year of experience as a Surgical Scrub.
• GI experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must speak/write English fluently.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up for operations and passing items to doctors and nurses as needed.
• Assists in cleaning the operating theater.
• Positioning and prepping patients prior to surgery, ensuring visibility for the surgeon by using instruments such as retractors and sponges, controlling bleeding, closing surgery sites using sutures or staples and dressing wounds.
• Reports to a supervisor or manager.
• Collaborate with doctors and other surgical team members to ensure proper post-operative care of patients.
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
