Job summary

Citrus Heights Surgery Center in Citrus Heights, CA is seeking a full-time Surgical Scrub Tech to anticipate the needs of the surgical team, establish and maintain a sterile field during procedures, and help ensure a safe operating room environment.

You will report to the Clinical Director/Administrator, collaborate with the circulating nurse, assist in gathering necessary supplies, conduct sponge, needle, and instrument counts, retain specimens for pathology, and adhere to universal precautions.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• General familiarity with medical terminology related to anatomy and surgical procedures in an operating room.

Responsibilities

• Ensure sterility of all supplies and instruments during setup of surgical procedures.
• Assist the circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment.
• Assist in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment.
• Conduct sponge, needle, and instrument counts pre‑operatively and intra‑operatively with the circulating nurse.
• Retain all specimens for pathology and confirm source/name with the surgeon.
• Use standard universal precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety.
