Job summary

SolutionHealth is seeking a dedicated Surgical Scheduling Coordinator to manage the end-to-end scheduling of procedures. You will interface with patients, families, surgeons, and staff to ensure accurate scheduling, proper preop preparation, and timely communication across departments.

Responsibilities include booking and monitoring surgeries, coordinating preop testing, and ensuring proper documentation in Epic.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience in a medical setting preferred.
• Previous surgical scheduling experience with knowledge of medical terminology and coding preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and authorizes surgical procedures in EOD and Main OR for the surgical group.
• Contacts patients with surgery information and determines best dates.
• Meets with patients for urgent surgeries to expedite care.
• Reviews charts to determine preop testing and location needs.
• Researches CPT and ICD-9 codes for procedures before scheduling.
• Enters surgical orders into Epic with preop labs and x-rays.
• Coordinates OR scheduling and faxes booking sheets post-scheduling.
• Schedules preop appointments and total joint classes, including follow-ups.
• Blocks schedules and prints reschedule lists as needed.
• Fills out surgery packets mailed to patients.
• Schedules surgeries with CMC OR if requested and arranges preop interviews.
• Enters surgical charges for providers daily.
