Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Scheduling Specialist to coordinate patient surgery scheduling across University Hospitals and ambulatory centers. You will enter case data in Epic, obtain necessary pre-surgical clearances, and confirm appointments with patients and providers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2 years of experience in a medical office environment preferred.
• Exposure and working knowledge of physician billing, medical collections, coding and surgery scheduling and/or patient access.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient surgical procedures at University Hospitals and Ambulatory Surgery Centers following established protocols.
• Provide pre-certification to ensure coverage and proper billing; advise on co-payment responsibilities.
• Enter scheduling, insurance, and registration information accurately in the system(s).
• Monitor surgical block time and coordinate with surgeons to optimize utilization.
